The presentation seeks to explore the pressing unmet needs within the realm of hypertension, highlighting aldosterone as an often overlooked yet pivotal component in its pathophysiology. Furthermore, it will delve into the detrimental impacts of aldosterone on both the cardiovascular and renal systems.


Kripa Patel, PharmD, BCCCP is a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with AstraZeneca who covers the Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic therapeutic areas. In her current role as MSL, she partners with practitioners to improve patients outcomes for patients with renal and cardiovascular diseases through providing education and assisting with clinical practice change initiatives throughout Kentucky. Prior to joining AstraZeneca in May of 2023, she was a Medical Intensive Care Unit Pharmacist at the University of Kentucky HealthCare since 2019. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois where she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Pharmacy.

She then transplanted to Lexington, KY for her PGY2 Critical Care residency at UK HealthCare. Following residency, Kripa spent a year covering the cardiothoracic, medical, surgical, trauma, and neurosurgical intensive care units at West Virginia University Medicine before taking her previous MICU role at UK HealthCare.
